From Mountains to Desert: A 50-Mile Trail Adventure through San Diego's Scenic Trails!
Embark on an unforgettable journey from sunrise to sunset as you traverse some of the most breathtaking trails that San Diego has to offer. This point-to-point race spans a challenging yet rewarding distance of 50 miles, with participants given up to 14 and a half hours to complete their trek.
The adventure begins at the Sunrise Trailhead in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, where runners will immediately face an ascent toward Stonewall Peak. The climb is followed by a descent into lush woodland trails that skirt around serene lakeside paths. As you make your way through this verdant landscape, prepare to encounter a variety of terrain and elevation changes.
The race culminates in Oriflamme Canyon with its steep drop down onto the desert floor before reaching the finish line at Stagecoach Trails RV Resort & Campground. This unique setting allows runners not only to complete their journey but also to spend the night camping or enjoying amenities like showers and a post-race meal served at the resort’s dining hall.
Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course, ensuring that participants have easy access to necessary supplies while maintaining the thrill of the adventure. The race is designed with family and crew support in mind; spectators can cheer runners on from various points along the route or join them for a post-race celebration at the resort.
For those needing transportation between start and finish lines due to logistical challenges, a pre-race shuttle service is available for an additional $15 per runner. This option allows participants to leave their vehicles near the finish line in Stagecoach Trails RV Resort & Campground before heading back up to the starting point via shuttle bus on race morning.
