Autumn Quorn Marathon (AQM) 2026 returns on Saturday, October 3rd at 11 am, promising another delightful day of running through the picturesque Cotswolds countryside. While past years have seen their share of autumnal winds, organizers are hopeful for a milder and more enjoyable atmosphere this time around. This year's event is dedicated to raising funds for Ed Slater, a Gloucester rugby player diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Established by Slater under the name 4ED, the initiative aims to support research and care initiatives that combat MND. The AQM community has long been committed to this cause, along with supporting three local village organizations: the Cricket Club, Deerhurst Playing Fields, and a nearby primary school. Since its inception in 1983, the AQM has become a beloved annual tradition for runners of all ages. This year's event will feature familiar elements that have made it a favorite over the years—cakes, handmade medals, golden tickets, countryside counters showcasing local history, historic churchyard visits, and post-race barbeques. Participants are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by dressing up in their favorite children’s TV character costumes. Previous favorites include Mr Benn and Dangermouse. For those interested in volunteering or contributing with items like jams and pickles (empty jars always appreciated), organizers welcome your help as it makes a significant difference. The Kiddython, designed for young runners aged 5 to 12 years old, kicks off at around 10:25 am and covers approximately one kilometer. This race raises essential funds for the local primary school, which plays an integral role in supporting AQM through various ways like creating direction signs during the event. Organizers express gratitude to sponsors such as J Lawry Healthcare, who stepped up when previous supporters were unable to continue their support. The continued involvement of dedicated volunteers and landowners ensures that this cherished community event can thrive for years to come. As always, Happy Running! We look forward to seeing you at AQM 2026 in October. The Rowan Team & Friends
