On September 5, 2026, the Leipzig Alliance Against Depression invites runners of all ages and abilities to participate in their annual community run. Organized by the running group "Austausch bewegt," this event aims to promote mental health awareness through physical activity. The day kicks off at 14:30 with a special Bambinilauf, designed for children aged six years or younger who will enjoy one lap around the track, covering approximately 400 meters. For those of all ages, the main run begins promptly at 15:00 on the "Blue Track" located within the sports faculty grounds of Leipzig University's Jahnallee campus. Participants can choose to walk or jog as they please without any time pressure. The event emphasizes a relaxed atmosphere where runners are encouraged to enjoy their experience rather than focusing solely on performance metrics, aligning with the group’s motto: “It’s about active time together, not just distance covered.” After crossing the finish line, there will be an award ceremony for all participants in various age categories followed by opportunities to socialize and share experiences. Refreshments including snacks and cakes will also be available. The event is open to everyone who wishes to join, whether they are looking to engage with others or simply enjoy a leisurely run through the scenic campus setting. The organizers would like to thank LG eXa Leipzig for their technical support in making this community gathering possible. Registration can be completed online at https://my.raceresult.com/369754/. Entry fees are as follows: €4 for Bambinis (up to 6 years old), €9 for children aged between 7 and 14, and €14 for participants aged 15 or older. On-site registration is possible up until half an hour before the start of the event with a late entry fee of €1. Participants will have access to changing rooms and showers located in the nearby sports faculty buildings at no additional cost. The venue can be easily reached via several tram lines, including stops near "Sportforum Süd" or "Marschnerstraße." Additionally, participants are encouraged to raise funds through donations from friends and family members based on the distance they cover during the run, turning their athletic efforts into a means of supporting those affected by depression. Participants can also make direct contributions to the running group’s account at Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Leipzig (DE43 8605 5592 1090 3220 18) or through betterplace.org for further support.
