The loop's near-total single-track nature ensures runners immerse themselves in the tranquil wilderness around Hargus Lake, with little chance of encountering vehicular traffic or other distractions. No time constraints are imposed for either the 4.5-mile race or half marathon distances, allowing participants ample freedom to set their own pace and enjoy the scenic route at will. For those embarking on longer challenges like the solo 12-hour run or relay events, specific cutoff times ensure that all laps must be completed before Sunday morning's early hours.
