Nestled within Calderdale, West Yorkshire, Brighouse is set to host a vibrant running event that promises stunning scenery and an engaging atmosphere along the picturesque Calder & Hebble navigation canal. The town's rich heritage, including its renowned Brighouse and Raistrick Brass Band, adds character to this peaceful setting. Participants can choose from four distances: 10K, half marathon, full marathon, and ultra-marathon, all starting early on October 2, 2027. The route follows the canal towpath in an out-and-back format, offering runners numerous opportunities for social interaction with fellow competitors along the way. The terrain is relatively flat and manageable, making it ideal for runners of various abilities. Water stations are strategically placed every few miles to ensure you stay hydrated throughout your run. Marshals stationed at key points will offer encouragement and guidance as needed. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants can look forward to receiving a bespoke medal and enjoying some delicious cake and other treats provided by the organizers. The event emphasizes creating a welcoming social space where runners can relax and connect with each other after their race. Registration on the day includes bib distribution, and car-sharing is encouraged for those traveling to the event. To align with eco-friendly practices, participants are asked to bring reusable cups or bottles for hydration stops along the course. Headphones are discouraged during most of the run due to safety concerns at unmarshalled road crossings; however, bone-conducting earphones or one-in-one-out in-ear pieces can be used if necessary. For those who need flexibility with their race entry, transfer options are available on the event website up until a week before the scheduled date. Join us for an unforgettable day of running amidst nature's beauty and community spirit in Brighouse. Enjoy your run along the scenic canal path surrounded by lush greenery and friendly faces.
