Bacon Run

The Bacon Run returns for its second year in Ottumwa, affectionately known as 'BaconTown,' set against the backdrop of the renowned Bacon Fest. This unique race offers runners and walkers an engaging experience along the scenic Des Moines River on a private path made up of concrete and asphalt.
Participants can look forward to early access to BaconTown at 10am, one hour before it opens to the public, providing ample time for family members to enjoy the festivities without crowds. The event features three race distances: a challenging 5-mile course, a brisk 5k run/walk, and a fun-filled 1-mile "Piggy Wiggy" option suitable for all ages.
All registered runners will receive an exclusive race shirt with the Bacon Run logo, a pound of packaged uncooked bacon to take home, five bacon bucks to spend on delicious food at BaconTown, and a hefty 3-inch medalion upon crossing the finish line. Additionally, children can enjoy free carnival rides in the Kidz Zone.
Packet pickup takes place indoors at Bridge View Center starting at 8am on race day for those who have pre-registered by November 7th to ensure their preferred T-shirt size is available. Early registrants must complete their registrations before this date to guarantee a shirt, while later entrants will be accommodated based on availability.
Start times are scheduled as follows:
9:00 AM - The 5-mile race begins.
9:20 AM - Participants in the 5k run/walk take off.
9:40 AM - Families and friends participate in the 1-mile "Piggy Wiggy" event.
10:00 AM - Early access to BaconTown for registered participants.
BaconTown opens to the general public at 11am, offering a variety of food stalls, drinks, and entertainment. Don't miss out on this flavorful celebration that combines fitness with fun!
