Experience the exhilarating fourth annual Baileys Dirt Fondo and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 24th, 2026! This adventure awaits at Chauncey-Dover Park Trailhead in Millfield, Ohio. The event transforms a traditional Italian "Gran Fondo" into an off-road challenge, offering various courses through the stunning Baileys Trail System within Wayne National Forest. The trail system boasts 75 miles of public access and is set to become the longest contiguous mountain bike-optimized route east of the Mississippi River upon completion. Participants will traverse singletrack trails laced with picturesque scenery and natural beauty, interspersed with rest stops where local treats await, keeping you energized for your ride. Join us for either a 45-mile Black Diamond course, featuring five race segments and three KOM/QOM challenges; the 25-mile Blue Square route, divided into three segments and two KOM/QOM challenges; or the shorter Green Circle path at just 12 miles with one segment and its own KOM/QOM challenge. Families can enjoy a 5-mile Youth/Family Fun Ride starting to finish automatically timed. All races commence from Chauncey-Dover Park Trailhead, releasing participants in waves according to their chosen course. Be prepared for self-sufficiency between rest stops, as the route includes sections on singletrack trails and short stretches of gravel road where cell phone coverage may be limited. Downloading a .gpx file is highly recommended. New this year: Baileys volunteers can enjoy discounts based on hours worked—5% off after 5 hours, 10% for 15 or more, 15% at 25, and up to 20% with 50 hours. Volunteer forms are available online for submission. Race day will see mandatory pre-race meetings where you'll receive your timing device and number plate. These items must be worn as directed—number plates can serve as meal tickets post-event. Segment times and KOM/QOM participation, while optional, enhance the experience with potential prizes. For the Youth/Family ride, teams will compete based on average time; top three teams will stand atop the podium. In other categories, overall scores from segment placements determine winners, with individual awards for lowest total score. KOM/QOM challenges add excitement but won't impact final standings. The Baileys Dirt Fondo supports trail management and development through contributions to the Outdoor Recreation Council of Appalachia (ORCA) and its partners. It is located near State Route 13 midway between Chauncey and Jacksonville. Route 13 formerly ran through the community, but a bypass relocated it close by.
