BAMBURGH CASTLE DUATHLONS

Bamburgh Castle Duathlons return this year for an unforgettable multisport weekend on the picturesque Northumberland coastline. The event features both Sprint and Standard Duathlons, scheduled to take place alongside a brand-new 10km Trail Run.
The duathlon routes wind through Bamburgh Castle's scenic grounds, with runs along well-marked paths that offer stunning views of historic ruins and lush gardens. Cyclists will venture out onto open coastal roads, enjoying panoramic sea vistas as they pedal past rolling hills and quaint villages. This event caters to athletes of all skill levels, welcoming both novices and seasoned competitors alike.
Participants can choose between the Sprint Duathlon (5km run - 20+km cycle - 2.5km run) or the Standard Duathlon (10km run - 40+km cycle - 5km run). The event also offers a relay option, allowing friends to team up and tackle the challenge together.
The race takes place in the car park at Links Road in Bamburgh, NE69 7AX. On-site parking is available for £4 per vehicle, payable by cash or card on arrival. Competitors are encouraged to use public transport or arrange carpools to minimize traffic congestion and environmental impact.
Transition area facilities include secure storage racks with designated spots corresponding to race numbers. Participants must wear their cycling helmets at all times while in the transition zone and ensure that bike numbers are clearly visible before entering the area. Race officials will check both bib and bike numbers as athletes enter and exit the transition zones.
Start times for both duathlons begin promptly at 8:30 AM, with live chip timing provided by Timing Up North to accurately track each competitor's performance throughout the event.
Upon crossing the finish line, all participants receive an event medal, a complimentary snack and drink, as well as exclusive Wild Deer merchandise. An optional event t-shirt is available for purchase during registration at £14 per shirt.
