The Annual Band on the Run 5k is more than just a race; it's a celebration of music, community spirit, and dedication. Originating in October 2014 by an enthusiastic group of Worcester parents and staff, this beloved event has raised significant funds for the WCS music program while fostering school pride across all age groups. On Saturday, October 3rd, participants will gather to take part in a chipped race that begins at 10 am. Packet pickup is available from 8 AM until 9:30 PM on the day of the event, and registration remains open during this same timeframe for those who haven't yet signed up. Entry fees are $25 for adults, $10 for students aged 18 and under, and a family rate of $60 (maximum six people), with an additional $5 convenience fee applied. Early registrants can also look forward to receiving a commemorative t-shirt while supplies last; the first 150 participants are guaranteed one. Parking is limited at Worcester Central School, so organizers encourage carpooling and suggest using nearby lots behind the school or off Decatur Street near Citizen’s Bank for easier access on race day. Passionate educators and staff members make a significant impact in today's learning environment, exemplified by those dedicated individuals at Worcester Central who go above and beyond to ensure their students receive an exceptional education enriched with vibrant music programs. Community support plays a vital role in the success of events like this one, which aim not only to raise funds but also to boost public enthusiasm for initiatives such as the school's renowned band program. Over the past decade, Worcester Central’s band has earned numerous accolades and continues to strive towards further achievements with ongoing community backing. Join us on October 3rd to experience a day of camaraderie, inspiring performances, and scenic routes that highlight the heart of this vibrant community.
