About the Event

The Bastion 12k is Bastion Run Club’s premier road racing event in Nanaimo. It is the third leg of the Vancouver Island Race Series. You will run a fast out-and-back course, along the country roads of Cedar with lake and farm field views. The start time is 11:00 AM. Race check-in opens at 9:00 AM. There is no early start and no day of race registration. Beverages and food will be served after the race. Awards are presented to the top 10 runners in each five-year age group. All participants are eligible for door prizes. Registration for the series and each individual race started at the Royal Victoria Marathon on Friday and Saturday October 10 and 11, 2024 weekend and continues to the Saturday before each race.

Nanaimo is the central hub city of Vancouver Island in BC, Canada. It is the second largest city on the island and has the second biggest harbour. In many ways it is the smaller cousin of Victoria. Like much of Vancouver Island it has moved from being primarily an industrial town to a tourist city that attracts a large number of retirees from the rest of Canada.
