On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will host an evening of remembrance and support with the Be the Light Walk. This moving event begins at 5:00 PM when doors open to welcome participants. From 5:00 PM until 6:55 PM, attendees can explore the Survivor Connection & Resource Fair inside the convention center. The fair offers a chance for individuals impacted by suicide and their loved ones to connect with local organizations dedicated to mental health support and resources. At 7:00 PM sharp, Meg Kissinger takes the stage as the keynote speaker. Known for her impactful work in journalism, Kissinger will share personal insights on resilience and hope, providing comfort and encouragement to those who have experienced loss or struggle. The highlight of the evening is the Candlelight Walk & Memorial Lantern Glow at 8:00 PM. Participants gather with candles to embark on a serene walk across the Fox River, passing by the historic Neville Public Museum before concluding at the City Deck overlooking the riverfront. The illuminated path creates a poignant atmosphere as participants honor those they have lost while spreading awareness about suicide prevention. At 9:00 PM, the event concludes with a Moment of Remembrance led by 7000apart, an organization dedicated to healing and support for individuals affected by suicide loss or attempts. This reflective moment allows attendees to pay their respects in a quiet, respectful manner before the evening draws to a close. Throughout the night, food vendors will be available nearby at KI Convention Center, offering refreshments for those attending. The event also provides ramp parking options within walking distance of the venue and lodging accommodations are easily accessible for out-of-town visitors. Proceeds from this heartfelt walk go directly toward suicide awareness and prevention efforts in Brown County, Wisconsin, supporting initiatives such as QPR training (Question, Persuade, Refer) aimed at equipping community members with skills to help prevent suicides. Funds also support outreach programs designed specifically for both youth and adults within the region. The Be the Light Walk offers a meaningful way to come together, share stories of hope, and contribute to vital mental health initiatives in Wisconsin. Join us as we illuminate paths toward healing and prevention on September 12, 2026.
