Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal for an unforgettable running experience. This race, scheduled for June 12, 2027, offers six distinct distances ranging from a scenic 5k to the full marathon distance, ensuring there's something for every level of runner. The event takes place just outside Bingley, where the flat towpath provides a smooth and even surface ideal for pushing your limits. The route winds along the picturesque canal, offering runners stunning views and an opportunity to explore this historic waterway up close. Although the terrain is generally flat, participants will encounter two notable features: 3-Rise Locks and 5-Rise Locks, which add a unique twist to the otherwise straightforward course. Registration and car parking are available at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club on Wagon Lane (BD16 1LT). After completing registration, runners should proceed to Fishermans Pub Garden for the start of their chosen race. The event features well-marked trails, ensuring that participants can navigate with ease despite being off-road. Feed stations are positioned every three miles along the route, providing essential hydration and nutrition throughout your run. Each finisher will receive a bespoke medal as part of their reward, alongside various treats to celebrate crossing the line. The race is fully licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules, ensuring that all participants benefit from professional standards in organization and safety measures. With chip timing available for accurate results, this event promises an enjoyable yet competitive atmosphere. Getting there: - By car: Park at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club (BD16 1LT) with on-road parking options around Bingley. - By train: Reach Bingley station and walk approximately 1.5 miles to the registration area. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups or bottles for hydration stations, aligning with efforts towards sustainability. Headphones can be used but must not interfere with hearing marshals' instructions or other sounds around you; bone-conducting headphones or one-in-one-out earbuds are recommended if necessary. For further guidance and updates, check the event's FAQ section online or join their Facebook group "Grim Up North Chat" for real-time support.
