Running enthusiasts are invited to experience the scenic trails of Morrison Park with our upcoming race series. The event offers four distinct courses: a 5K loop through the eastern part of the park, a challenging 15K that takes runners on two larger loops around the perimeter, and a unique double option where participants first complete the 5K before taking a brief break to tackle the 15K course immediately after. For younger racers, there's also an engaging Kids 1K event with an opening loop similar to the adult courses. Race day begins at 7:30 AM when registration opens and continues until all races are underway. The 5K race kicks off promptly at 8:30 AM, followed by a quick start for kids around 9:15 AM and then the more rigorous 15K course starting shortly after. Participants will enter Morrison Park via Morrison Road, just east of C470, where they'll present their registration details to park staff. After passing through the toll booth without payment, runners take a left turn at the Y-junction before heading up the steep hill towards Coyote Crossing for parking and race day check-in. Volunteers are an integral part of this event, providing essential support throughout the day in areas such as registration, aid stations, and finish line management. Those interested can contact organizers directly to sign up or secure a free entry into future races by lending their assistance. The Kids 1K is designed for young runners aged five years and older who will be accompanied by an adult or older sibling during the race. All participants receive a plush toy at the finish, adding excitement to this non-timed event that aims to introduce children to running in a fun-filled environment. While admission was previously free, organizers now charge a nominal fee per child due to park regulations and costs. Join us for a day filled with scenic routes, supportive volunteers, and memorable moments as you traverse through the beautiful landscapes of Morrison Park. Whether participating solo or bringing along family members, there's an experience tailored just right for everyone involved. This event promises not only physical challenges but also opportunities to connect with nature and fellow runners in a vibrant community setting.
