Big Foot Trail Run

Bluff views. Creek crossings. Waterfalls. And pizza at the finish. The Big Foot Trail Run — Race #1 in the Wild Thangs Trail Series — takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama (5105 Nolen Ave SE). Choose 10 km (7:00 AM) or 5 km (7:15 AM). Cupless event — bring a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. All finishers receive Marco's Pizza, a t‑shirt, and a finisher award. Part of a 4‑race summer series (Big Foot, Jackalope, Skunk Ape, Chupacabra) designed to be competitive, fun, and help runners increase distances through the Alabama heat.

Wild Thangs Trail Series — 2026 Dates:

• June 20 — Big Foot: 5K, 10K
• July 11 — Jackalope: 4 Mile, 8 Mile
• August 1 — Skunk Ape: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
• August 22 — Chupacabra: 10K, Half Marathon
• Bundle all 4 races (Short Series or Long Series) and save $35‑$65 depending on registration timing. Series registrants receive a Wild Thangs series t‑shirt, amazing finisher awards, and a series plaque.

Course Highlights:

• Spectator‑friendly trails (compared to other trail events)
• Bluff views with beautiful mountain scenery
• Creek crossings — keep your feet wet or hop the rocks
• Waterfalls along the route (seasonal flow, but usually running in June)

Cupless Event — No Paper Cups:

Packet Pickup:

• Friday, June 19, 2026 — 12:00–5:00 PM at RunningLane store (2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801)
• Race morning pickup available 6:00–6:45 AM (arrive early — limited time)
• No packet pickup on race day? Actually yes, but very tight window — plan ahead

Schedule:

• Plan to arrive no later than 6:30 AM to ensure time to park and pick up bibs
• 7:00 AM — 10K start
• 7:15 AM — 5K start

Cutoffs & Pace:

• Very loose cutoffs — goal is to get more people into trail running
• However, if you cannot maintain 15‑minute miles, consider the Short Series vs Long Series
• 17‑minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants

Weather & Cancellation:

• Average June temperatures in Huntsville: low 65‑75°F, high 85‑95°F — hot and humid
• In event of severe weather (lightning), start will be delayed. If weather threatens all day, race may be canceled.
• No refunds, deferrals, credits, or friend/family transfers. Leftover shirts are donated — not mailed.

Volunteer Program:

• Work a 5‑hour shift → free entry into a future RunningLane event (half marathon distance and shorter)
• Work two 5‑hour shifts or one 8+ hour shift → free entry into a future RunningLane 50‑miler (or two shorter races)
