Bishopbriggs 5 Miler The Bishopbriggs 5 Miler, organized by Springburn Harriers, offers runners an off-road adventure through the scenic landscapes of Glasgow. This community-focused race begins at Cadder Bridge along the canal and takes participants on a journey westward towards Lambhill via tarmacked tow-paths before looping around Possil Marsh’s picturesque surroundings. Registration for this event is strictly online with no day-of entries accepted to ensure health and safety standards are met, accommodating up to 200 runners. The entry fee of £10 includes essential race materials such as bib numbers which must be worn visibly throughout the run without any obstructions like vests or other items covering them. On Wednesday, August 26th at 7pm, participants will gather for a pre-race briefing from 6:55 pm after completing registration between 6 and 6:40 pm in the squash courts upstairs at Leisuredrome. Runners should be prepared to start their journey along the canal near Cadder Bridge promptly at 7 pm. Parking is available around both Leisuredrome and nearby Cadder Bridge, but runners are advised to park responsibly on surrounding streets rather than using the facility’s carpark due to limited space. The venue also provides toilet facilities for use during race preparation or recovery post-run. The route itself presents a mix of natural terrain with mile markers clearly indicated along the way. Participants will enjoy running alongside Possil Marsh, offering scenic views and varied landscapes throughout their 5-mile journey back towards Leisuredrome near Cadder Bridge where they’ll finish. Safety is paramount at this event; bone conducting headphones are permitted for those who need audio cues but must still remain alert to their surroundings. First aid teams will be on standby should any medical assistance arise during the race, and runners withdrawing mid-event should report immediately to a nearby marshal for support. Upon completion of your run, water stations await to help you rehydrate after crossing the finish line. Results from this non-chip timed event will be available within 24 hours following the race day courtesy of Springburn Harriers. Please ensure all emergency contact details and any necessary medical information are noted on the back of your bib number before entering into the competition, adhering to Scottish Athletics guidelines that participants must be at least fifteen years old. This event promises an engaging off-road experience with a strong community spirit, ideal for runners looking to explore Glasgow’s natural beauty while enjoying a challenging yet rewarding race day atmosphere.
