About the Event

The BIWA100 Ultra Walk sets 42K and 100K walks around Lake Biwa. It is not a contest of speed but a long walk in which participants aim to finish within the time limit. The course is flat and easy to walk, with Shiga-style refreshments and warm local support. The 100K runs from Toyokuni Park in Nagahama to Otsu Port, and the 42K runs from the same start in Nagahama to a finish in Omihachiman. The 100K is open to high school students and older and the 42K to fifth graders and above, with age conditions for under-18 entrants. Organizers hope to build it into Japan's leading 100K event, over two memorable days.
