Snake into the wilds of Rocky Branch Park for an unforgettable ultra trail race like no other – The Black Copperhead Sting is back, and it’s ready to challenge even the most seasoned runners with its rugged terrain and fierce competition. This 10-hour endurance event invites you to push your limits on a course that twists through dense forests, challenging climbs, rocky paths, and roots aplenty. Located in Belmont, North Carolina, Rocky Branch Park offers an exclusive trail experience where every lap measures exactly 3.24 miles with over 293 feet of elevation gain – enough to test any runner’s mettle but not so much that it becomes impossible. The course is marked with blazing red ribbons and arrows, guiding you through a loop filled with canopy trails, rocky climbs, and roots waiting for the unwary. Race day kicks off at 8:00 AM sharp when runners hit the trail after an early morning park opening from 7:00 AM and bib pickup between 7:10 to 7:50 AM. The race concludes by 5:30 PM, leaving participants with a full ten hours of grueling yet rewarding running time. Fuel up at aid stations stocked with everything you need – think pickles, candy, cereal, pretzels, fruit, and yes, bacon – all designed to keep your energy levels high throughout the race. Water, Tailwind, and sodas are also available for hydration and endurance support. First-aid services will be on standby but don’t expect much use; this is a challenge meant for those who thrive in tough conditions. Upon crossing the finish line, every runner earns a unique handmade pottery medal from BlueGill Pottery to commemorate their achievement – each piece as individual as the story behind it. Join us at The Black Copperhead Sting and prepare yourself for an experience that’s not just about running; it's about forging memories in one of Belmont’s most challenging yet rewarding trails. Whether you’re chasing personal bests, glory, or simply a good time amidst nature, this race is designed to leave its mark on every participant. Embrace the challenge and run wild with us at Rocky Branch Park – where grit meets glory.
