Blackburn FunRun 2026!

The Blackburn FunRun 2026! returns to Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, June 7th... This year's event offers a 1K for kids and adults along with a 2K cross-country route—suitable for all fitness levels. The race will take place at the Blackburn FunFair fairgrounds, located behind the Blackburn Hamlet Community Centre (190 Glen Park Dr.), which is just off Rideau Street in Gloucester neighbourhood.
Race morning finds participants gathering on the soccer field surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the FunFair. The event grounds are bustling with activity as families and friends prepare for their run or walk, ensuring a supportive environment from start to finish. This year marks the 15th edition of the Blackburn FunRun—since its inception in 2012—it has grown significantly thanks to community support and participation. Over 369 runners joined last year, making it one of the most anticipated events on Ottawa's calendar.
Course and conditions offer a unique experience with an out-and-back cross-country route. The first half starts from the fairgrounds, then veers into the Gloucester Allotment Garden, providing scenic views and a gentle terrain for participants to enjoy. Both courses conclude back at the starting point, making it easy for marshals and spectators to find their way around. Notable features include clear signage guiding runners throughout the course—especially helpful during the 2K run.
Weather on race day is expected to be firm but slightly soft due to moderate conditions, translating into a comfortable temperature range of approximately 18°C to 24°C with UV index at 5.6 (moderate). Expect some light wind and potential for a few showers; participants are advised to check the forecast closer to event time.
The Blackburn FunRun offers two distances: a Kid's 1K FunRun and a 2K Fun Run/Walk. Spots remaining as of now include 85 in the 1K category and 184 in the 2K section. Fees are CA$12 for both events, with on-site registration available at the fairgrounds starting from half an hour before each event's start time.
