This event marks its sixth year running, with participants gathering at the resort for an evening filled with challenging terrain and community spirit.
North Conway, nestled in the heart of the White Mountains, transforms into a bustling hub early on race day as runners assemble under the dim glow of pre-dawn light. The area around Cranmore Resort fills with the sounds of athletes preparing for their run, setting up headlamps, and collecting swag from bib pickup stations set up near the Arlberg Building (Children's Center). By 4:00 PM, race day activities begin to unfold as participants arrive at the venue.
The Blackout Mountain Race has become a tradition in North Conway since its inception. Over the years, it has attracted runners of all ages and skill levels who come together for an evening run that highlights both the scenic beauty and challenging trails of Cranmore Resort. A portion of the proceeds from this event supports local charities focused on community health initiatives.
The course at Blackout Mountain Race takes participants along a mix of access roads and ski trails within Cranmore Resort, featuring reflective flagging and LED lanterns to guide runners in low light conditions. Both 5K and 10K routes are designed with elevation changes that challenge athletes while providing stunning views under the night sky. Headlamps are required for safety; participants can purchase them at registration if needed.

The air will feel cool but not frigid, with temperatures ranging from 40°F to 50°F (4°C to 10°C), and humidity levels around 60%.
