About the Event
Welcome to the Blazing Saddles 2026 event, organized by Big Wheel Events, Inc., with proceeds benefiting Team Suicide Prevention. This year marks significant changes and exciting updates for participants. The race will feature an intense 100-mile sub-5-hour challenge, with the finish line closing at 2 pm on August 8th. Starting from Washington Irving Park in Bixby, Oklahoma, riders will embark on a tour of Northeast Oklahoma’s scenic backcountry. An early start is planned to avoid the heat of midday sun, ensuring a more comfortable ride experience. The first three hours are critical; if you’re not at Twin Hills rest stop by then, you’ll be directed northward. Big Wheel Events has expanded its prize offerings significantly this year, inspired by the success of their poker ride in 2025. With over $20,000 and a Felt Gravel Bike awarded that year, they aim to distribute three bikes as grand prizes this time around. Additionally, the top ten hands from each category will receive special awards. Riders will be dealt five-card poker hands post-finish at Bixby Bicycles’ hometown bike shop. Professional dealers from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will ensure fair play. Cards are specially marked with your bib number for easy tracking. The event promises a unique blend of cycling and gambling, adding an extra layer of excitement. The race offers four distances: 7 miles (2 hours), 19 miles (2 hours), 29 miles (3 hours), 42 miles (4 hours), and the sub-5-hour challenge for the brave. Estimated start times are provided to help you plan your ride, with poker starts set around an hour after each category’s finish. Upon crossing the finish line, riders will be greeted by a vibrant cheer section, followed by food trucks, merchandise stalls, and outreach programs. Custom event t-shirts can be purchased at both registration and on-site for just $10.
