Bleasdale Circle by VÅGA

Bleasdale Parish Hall is the starting point for this challenging 5-mile (8 km) race, set to take place on February 13, 2027. The course begins with runners crossing approximately 1,500 meters of farmland that can be muddy and uneven underfoot, offering a taste of what lies ahead.
The route then ascends gradually for another 1,500 meters along a farm track before reaching the fell gate at Higher Fairsnape Farm. From there, runners face their first significant challenge as they climb steeply on rough grassy terrain with hidden rocks to Paddy’s Pole (CP1). The cut-off time here is strict: competitors must reach this checkpoint within 55 minutes.
After crossing Paddy's Pole, the route descends gradually along a mixed fell path of grass and rock. Another steady ascent follows before runners make their way to Parlick (CP2), where they will experience yet another steep descent through potentially hidden rocks and reeds. The return leg sees competitors retracing some of these steps back onto farm tracks and fields past Blindhurst Farm.
The highest point reached during the race is 500 meters, with conditions that can be harsh due to strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, frozen ground, snow, or ice. Runners must therefore ensure they are well-prepared for a range of environmental challenges.
Participants will need to bring essential kit such as waterproof clothing and crampons if necessary, given the nature of the terrain and potential weather conditions. Kit checks at registration are mandatory; failure to comply means no race entry, number, or participation on race day.
Registration takes place at Bleasdale Parish Hall, where runners should remove muddy shoes before entering. Parking is limited nearby, so car-sharing with fellow competitors is strongly encouraged. A charge of £1 per car for two or more participants and £5 for single-car entries applies; all proceeds go to the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
