Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest is an exhilarating celebration of nature and community, nestled against the backdrop of Blue Hill's stunning coastal landscape. This multi-distance race offers runners and hikers of all abilities a chance to explore the beauty and terrain of this isolated mountain landmark. The event features four distinct distances: 5k, 10k, 25k, and 50k. Each course weaves through fields adorned with wildflowers and dense forest trails that culminate in breathtaking coastal vistas. The shorter routes provide a taste of the mountain's rugged beauty, while longer races like the 25k and 50k offer multiple loops around Blue Hill Mountain’s figure-eight profile. The 5k route begins at the picturesque Mountain Rd field and takes runners on an out-and-back journey along Post Office Trail before ascending to the summit via Osgood Trail. The course then descends along Service Road back to the starting point, offering a compact yet scenic experience for all participants. For those seeking more distance, the 10k expands upon this loop with additional mileage that includes another full figure-eight circuit around Mountain Rd and Pleasant St, providing runners with two summits to conquer. The 25k route extends further, encompassing three complete loops of Blue Hill's scenic trails, while the challenging 50k pushes endurance limits over seven laps. The race hub serves as a central aid station located at the start/finish line, offering essential hydration and an array of snacks including local favorites like whoopie pies. A smaller aid station is also available near Post Office/Osgood/Mountain Rd for additional support along the way. Packet pickup takes place on Friday, July 31st from 4-6pm at Mountain Rd Field, with a pre-race meeting scheduled for 5pm to review course details and address any questions. Runners are encouraged to attend these events but can still check in before race start if necessary. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Wabanaki Alliance, supporting conservation efforts and indigenous communities. Additionally, this trail fest is proud to offer equal podiums and awards for women participants along with menstrual products at aid stations as part of its Trail Sisters Approved status. Registration fees vary by distance and registration date but are waived entirely for members of the Wabanaki Tribal community. Pricing details can be found on their website or requested directly via email. Whether you're a seasoned ultrarunner tackling the 50k challenge or a casual hiker enjoying the shorter routes, Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest promises an unforgettable adventure in one of Maine's most scenic settings.
