Buck 50

About the Event

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the southern Adirondacks on October 3rd for the Buck 50, a grueling yet rewarding ultra-trail race. This challenging course spans an impressive 50 kilometers and takes runners through some of the most stunning landscapes around Lake George.
The journey begins at Camp Chingachgook in Pilot Knob Road, where participants will embark on a rigorous adventure across four towering peaks along rugged trails that wind their way over Buck Mountain, Sleeping Beauty Peak, Black Mountain, and Erebus Mountain. The ascent to these lofty summits totals an elevation gain of 9000 feet, offering panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness.
The race route is meticulously designed with aid stations strategically placed throughout to ensure runners can stay fueled and hydrated during their trek across remote trails. These include mandatory cutoff times at key points: five hours after starting for those reaching Black Mountain trail, nine-and-a-half hours past the start time when crossing Dacy Clearing Road again, and a final twelve-hour limit upon returning to Camp Chingachgook.
This event is tailored specifically for seasoned ultra-trail runners who have demonstrated their capabilities through previous achievements in similar races. The Buck 50 promises an unforgettable experience that challenges both body and spirit against the backdrop of natural splendor.
Participants will traverse a mix of dirt paths, rocky trails, and scenic roads connecting various peaks around Lake George. From the initial climb up Buck Mountain to crossing Fishbrook Pond near Black Mountain Point, every step offers unique terrain and breathtaking vistas.
The race organizers recommend that all entrants have prior experience in ultra-distance trail races or can showcase exceptional performance in shorter but equally demanding non-trail events. This ensures a safe environment where everyone is prepared for the physical demands of this challenging course.
For those ready to push their limits amidst nature’s grandeur, the Buck 50 presents an unparalleled opportunity to test your endurance and revel in the raw beauty of the Adirondacks.
