Welcome to the Builth Wells Charity Aquathlon, an inclusive and engaging event designed for both newcomers and seasoned athletes alike. The aquathlon offers three exciting options: a short-distance challenge, a longer distance race, and a relay team option. ### Event Details: Short Distance (200m Swim + 3k Run) - Swim: Dive into the 25-meter pool for an invigorating 8-length swim. This portion is tailored to accommodate various skill levels. - Run: Transition seamlessly and head out onto The Groe, a picturesque path that winds through scenic landscapes for a refreshing 3-kilometer run. Long Distance (400m Swim + 5k Run) - Swim: Challenge yourself with the full distance of 16 lengths in the pool. This segment is designed to test your endurance and technique. - Run: After drying off, take on a more extensive route around The Groe for an exhilarating 5-kilometer run. Relay Event - Teams of two will compete by having one member complete the full distance swim (400m) in the pool before handing over to their teammate who runs 5 kilometers along The Groe. This event fosters teamwork and camaraderie among participants. ### Key Highlights: - Accurate Timing: Participants must provide an accurate swim time for proper lane placement, ensuring a smooth race experience. - Overtaking Policy: Swimmers are allowed to overtake at the end of each length but should adhere to cut-off times: 16 minutes for 400m and 8 minutes for 200m. Those falling behind may be asked to leave unless nearing completion. - Equipment Provided: A swimming hat will be supplied, which must be worn during the swim portion to track your progress accurately. ### Registration: Entries close on August 2, 2026, or when each event reaches its maximum capacity of 99 participants. Ensure you register early to secure a spot in this inspiring and community-focused event. ### Prizes & Recognition: All finishers will receive a commemorative medal and a video recording of their crossing the line. Age category winners will also be awarded prizes for their outstanding performance. ### Fundraising Opportunity: Join us in supporting The Wales Air Ambulance, an essential service providing rapid medical aid across rural areas. Participants can raise funds through a dedicated campaign page: [https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/builthwellsaquathlon2026](https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/builthwellsaquathlon2026).
