Experience the breathtaking coastal beauty of Campobello Island on August 22, 2026, as you participate in the second edition of the Campobello Coastal Challenge. This unique race spans two parks and offers runners an unforgettable journey through diverse terrains. The event is a collaborative effort between Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Herring Cove Provincial Park, and Dutch Viking Events. A portion of each registration fee will be donated to the local food bank, ensuring that your participation supports community needs. Starting from the historic core of Roosevelt Campobello International Park, runners will navigate through forested trails, rocky beaches, coastal cliffs, and bog boardwalks. The 25 km and 50 km races offer a challenging yet rewarding course with stunning views of Passamaquoddy Bay. Participants can trace President Franklin Roosevelt's footsteps on the same trails he frequented during his summers here. For those seeking a shorter distance, the 10 km race follows part of the longer route before venturing inland into Herring Cove Provincial Park for its final leg through pristine old growth Acadian Forest. The course promises diverse and picturesque scenery, with opportunities to spot wildlife such as bald eagles, seals, porpoises, and even whales along the way. The 25 km race features aid stations at key points: 8 km, 12.7 km, and 19.3 km. Water and Skratch hydration will be available, alongside a range of nutrition options to keep you fueled throughout your run. Race kits can be picked up on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Herring Cove campground (136 Herring Cove Rd, Welshpool) or Saturday morning starting at 7 am near the start/finish area in Roosevelt Campobello International Park. A cup-less event ensures minimal environmental impact; bring your own reusable water bottle. The race will be chip-timed for accuracy and includes free swag for all participants. Prizes await top male and female finishers of each distance, making this a competitive yet inclusive experience. On Saturday at noon, there's also a kids run available for young athletes to enjoy the same scenic course after signing a waiver with parents or guardians present. Important reminders: The event is cup-less, so bring your own reusable water bottle. Dogs and strollers are not allowed due to insurance reasons but will be missed on these trails. All registrations must be completed online through Race Roster; in-person sign-ups aren't available. Online registration closes August 14 at noon. Join us for a day filled with natural beauty, friendly competition, and community support as we celebrate the cooperative spirit that defines Campobello Island!
