The fourth and final installment of CraggRunner and Clayton Le Moors Harriers' Junior Series welcomes young runners on October 24, 2026, at the Steven Burke Sports Hub in Barrowford. This series has been a highlight for junior athletes throughout the year, culminating with this exciting autumn event.
The day begins early as eager participants gather to take part in one of four races tailored specifically for young runners based on their age group. The youngest competitors, aged 6-9 years old (as determined by their age on race day), will tackle a challenging but manageable 1-kilometer course starting at 11:30 AM sharp.
For the slightly older racers in the u12 category, there's a 2-kilometer run waiting for them. This follows shortly after the first event concludes, allowing participants to transition smoothly from one race to another without missing a beat.
As young athletes grow and gain more experience, they can look forward to longer distances. The u14 racers will face a 3-kilometer course designed to test their endurance and speed in equal measure.
Finally, the most seasoned junior runners aged 10-15 (as of race day) have two options: continue competing in the u16 category with a grueling 4-kilometer run or step up to the full challenge of an adult-level 5k event. Those choosing this option will be required to pay the senior race entry fee, ensuring they are recognized for their achievements alongside older competitors.
All participants can look forward to receiving medals upon crossing the finish line in first place within their respective age groups and gender categories. Additionally, every runner who completes a race receives a goody bag filled with surprises that celebrate their participation and hard work throughout the series.
