Canisports Scotland invites participants to an unforgettable weekend of canicross adventure on the Isle of Mull, scheduled for October 3rd and 4th, 2026. Sponsored by The Happy Go Lucky Dog Co Limited, this unique event promises a blend of scenic beauty and competitive spirit.
Located at Glengorm Castle in Tobermory, participants will experience breathtaking views as they race through the island's rugged yet picturesque terrain. However, it’s crucial to allow ample time for travel from the ferry port, given that narrow roads with limited passing places can extend your journey significantly beyond an hour.
Registration opens on Saturday at 11:00 AM and Sunday at 8:30 AM, with race briefings scheduled for 12:15 PM on Saturday and 9:30 AM on Sunday. The first races kick off promptly at 1:00 PM and 10:00 AM respectively.
Competitors can choose to participate in either a single day or both days of the event, with prize-giving ceremonies taking place around 3:00 PM on Saturday and approximately 12:30 PM on Sunday. The race offers various categories including junior canicross for ages 7-15, age group divisions, local resident awards (if sufficient entries are received), non-dog runners, and a short course option for those looking to enjoy the scenic trails without committing to longer distances.
Entry fees vary based on category: adults participating in the main race pay £20 while juniors aged 7-15 enter at half price (£10). The shorter courses also have their own entry rates of £15 and £10 respectively. All participants receive medals for top three placements, with local residents guaranteed a spot should entries reach maximum capacity.

Dogs must meet specific requirements such as being over one year old and not pregnant or lactating, ensuring they wear a suitable harness for comfort throughout the race. They should also remain on leash at all times unless participating in designated areas of freedom under supervision.
Age groups are determined based on competitors' ages during the day of the event, with organizers reserving the right to adjust categories depending on participant numbers. Children aged 7-10 must be accompanied by an adult familiar to them and attached to their dog for safety reasons; those between 11-15 can run alone but may have adult supervision.
The weekend also features a special fun run for younger kids, age six and under, who will receive medals upon completion. This event is designed specifically for families with young children eager to experience the thrill of canicross in a supportive environment.
Participants are reminded that accurate personal best times should be provided during registration to ensure proper seeding at start lines for safety reasons. Borrowed dogs must have prior training and familiarity with their handlers, while all competitors attend races at their own risk under event/public liability insurance coverage.
