CANOSSA Benefiz Berglauf

The Canossa Charity Mountain Run, held annually on the slopes of the Harz Mountains near Bad Harzburg, offers runners and walkers an exhilarating journey through one of Germany's most picturesque national parks. This year’s edition takes place on Sunday, September 20th, starting at 10 AM from Oberer Kurpark in front of the lower cable car station.
Participants can choose between a challenging 6 km run or a more leisurely 12 km course that ascends to the historic Burgberg summit. The shorter route is ideal for casual runners and families looking for an invigorating hike, while walkers are welcome on both distances but particularly encouraged on the gentler 6 km option.
The event caters to all levels of fitness, from amateur joggers seeking a modest challenge to competitive athletes pushing their limits in elevation gain. Teams of at least five members can also join and compete for additional accolades as part of this community-focused race.
Upon crossing the finish line at the Canossa Column on Burgberg, every participant will receive an official certificate styled after a papal indulgence with their recorded time. A commemorative medal is awarded to all competitors, along with refreshments including water bottles and fresh fruit post-race.
