Capital to Capital 5k Family Run/Walk

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Rotary Club of Kingston, NY invites runners and walkers to participate in its Fifth Annual 5K Run/Walk. This year's event not only celebrates community spirit but also honors a significant piece of local history by commemorating the Burning of Kingston, which took place on October 17, 1777.
The race offers both virtual and in-person options for participants to join from anywhere around the world or right here in Kingston. In-person runners will embark on a scenic journey along the New O&W Kingston Rail Trail, paralleling the historic route taken by refugees fleeing British soldiers more than two centuries ago. The trail is not only safe but also provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
For those who prefer to participate remotely, virtual participants can complete their 5K run or walk on a course of their choice between October 3 and October 19, 2026, ensuring flexibility for all runners regardless of location. Virtual entrants must log their time through Zippyreg.com by the deadline of October 19th at 11:59 PM to qualify for an official finisher's certificate.
The in-person race begins with check-in and late registration starting at 9:00 AM on Washington Avenue, Kingston, NY. The event kicks off promptly at 10:00 AM as participants make their way along the rail trail towards School House Lane in Hurley.
Awards will be presented to top male and female finishers and to the first three place winners across various age categories during a ceremony held at the Hurley Heritage Museum following the race.
Entry fees for this year's event are $25, with children 12 years old and under admitted free of charge. The entry fee includes access to the race and a handcrafted finisher’s medallion, available on a first-come-first-served basis up to the first 100 paid registrants.
