Catch the Cure - Paddle for Parkinson's

Paddle for Parkinson's returns on Saturday, September 5, 2026, marking its 19th year of bringing paddlers and supporters together to make a difference against Parkinson’s disease. Set along the picturesque North Padre Island coastline, this event combines athletic challenge with community spirit.
Participants will embark from Billish Park Boat Ramp in Corpus Christi, navigating their kayaks or paddleboards for a total distance of 2.5 miles — one loop around a buoy at the Padre Island Yacht Club and back to the starting point. The course is designed to accommodate all skill levels, ensuring that whether you're an experienced paddler or just getting started, there’s room for everyone.
Race day offers more than just competition; it's an opportunity to enjoy live music, indulge in delicious BBQ, and mingle with fellow participants over cold drinks at the post-race party. For those without their own equipment, Wind and Wave Watersports provides rentals on-site (361-937-9283 / windandwavewatersports@gmail.com).
Registration is now open with early bird discounts available until May 25th for $30 per person; prices increase to $40 from May 26th through August 19th, then jump to $50 in the final weeks leading up to September 3rd and peak at $60 on race day. This entry fee includes not only participation but also a BBQ plate and an event t-shirt (guaranteed shirt sizes are available if you register early).
Packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brewster Street Ice House on Leeward Drive in Corpus Christi. Alternatively, race day packet pick-up and late registration will be held between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM at Billish Park Boat Ramp.
The event kicks off with check-in starting early in the morning followed by races beginning promptly at 9:00 AM. After crossing the finish line, participants can look forward to an awards ceremony complete with live entertainment and a celebratory feast of barbecue.
Even if you’re not competing yourself, there’s still plenty to enjoy as spectators are welcome to cheer on racers or simply soak up the atmosphere along with friends and family members — even pets. Meal tickets, t-shirts, sponsorship opportunities, and donation options will be available for purchase throughout the day at www.catchthecure.org.
