CCAP Summer Road Camp

About the Event

From July 19 to 24, immerse yourself in the vibrant cycling community at UCONN's Storrs campus. This five-day overnight camp caters exclusively to junior cyclists aged between 12 and 18, offering a blend of advanced training and social fun.
Experience firsthand what it takes to excel on the road with expert guidance from experienced racers and USAC-licensed coaches. The curriculum focuses on refining race tactics and techniques through daily skill sessions that will challenge your abilities and enhance your performance.
The rides here are nothing short of legendary, with epic routes designed to push you both physically and mentally. One highlight is the "Mega-Death" challenge—a route that tests even the most seasoned riders. The atmosphere inside the dorms is warm and supportive, fostering lasting friendships among participants.
Meals are all included, prepared by premier dining services, ensuring your nutritional needs are met as you focus on training. Small coaching groups maintain a 1:5 ratio for personalized instruction, making it easier to tackle any aspect of cycling that requires improvement.
Cycling enthusiasts will find this camp an ideal environment where road and mountain biking camps run concurrently, doubling the fun and allowing participants to explore diverse terrains in one location. The camaraderie is strong from day one; friendships form quickly as everyone shares a passion for cycling regardless of age or background.
A typical day starts with core workouts followed by a review of your ride plan before heading out on morning rides that are tailored to your skill level. Lunch and recovery time, an afternoon skills session, and free time in the evening round off each day. Dinner comes at 6:00 PM, followed by either an evening clinic or group activity.
The facility is designed with young cyclists in mind, ensuring a safe yet engaging environment where you can grow both as a rider and as part of a community. Participants will stay in gender-appropriate dorms, fostering a supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth.
For those who are new to overnight camps, the transition is smooth thanks to the welcoming nature of the camp staff and fellow participants. By the end of the week, you'll feel like family—bound together by shared experiences and a love for cycling.
Who should sign up? This camp welcomes boys and girls with intermediate-to-advanced skills looking to refine their road racing tactics or simply enjoy riding in scenic surroundings. Riders will be grouped based on ability levels to ensure everyone gets the most out of each session.
While you can bring your devices, they'll be stored during non-training hours to encourage social interaction among peers. Emergency contact information for parents is provided by camp staff, ensuring peace of mind while allowing full engagement with activities.
The cost for this all-inclusive experience stands at $1,350, which covers lodging, meals, and coaching services. A $300 deposit secures your spot; the remainder will be invoiced after registration. The week includes a Sunday afternoon drop-off and Friday afternoon pick-up schedule.
Secure your place now with CCAP, a seven-time USA Cycling Center of Excellence, known for its commitment to excellence in youth cycling development.
