The course itself is a marvel of Edmonton's trail network. The 34-kilometer solo race takes runners through three loops: Dawson Park at 12 kilometers, Sunridge Ski Area via another 12 kilometers, and Goldstick Park for its final 10 kilometers. Each loop offers unique terrain—single-track sections that challenge your legs and double-wide paths where you can enjoy the scenery without losing too much speed. Start/finish line setup at Gold Bar Park ensures a seamless transition from race to celebration. The course features three prominent aid stations, one after each major loop, providing hydration and nutrition support for all participants. Runners should anticipate an elevation profile that gradually increases towards the middle of the race but maintains a steady pace throughout. August in Edmonton typically brings a comfortable temperature range with an average high near 23.5°C (74°F) and lows around 12.6°C (55°F), creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities. Expect mild winds at about 10.6 kilometers per hour, with humidity levels hovering just below the comfort zone at 71.6%. Trail surfaces are expected to be dry but watch out for slight variations in terrain that may cause minor changes.

The river valley also contains many parks, including Fort Edmonton Park, Canada's largest historical park. If the great outdoors is not what you seek, the city also offers West Edmonton Mall, the largest shopping mall in North America. On top of that, Edmonton has a vibrant theatre community, a busy cycle of annual festivals, national sports teams active year-round, and wonderful winter recreational opportunities.
