Charlestown to Polkerris

In July 2026, swimmers will converge on Cornwall for the highly anticipated return of the Charlestown to Polkerris swim, part of the Cornish long distance series. This picturesque 5km point-to-point course begins at the historic harbor of Charlestown and concludes on the sandy shores of Polkerris beach.
Swimmers can expect a serene journey across St Austell Bay, with breathtaking views as they navigate from west to east past Carlyon Bay, Spit and Par en route. The turquoise waters are often calm and clear, offering ideal conditions for spotting an array of marine wildlife along the way.
Upon reaching Polkerris beach, swimmers will be greeted by a cheering crowd and the ever-enthusiastic Mad Hatter crew, who provide support to every competitor from first finisher to last.
Participants can look forward to receiving a swim hat upon registration at the Polkerris Beach Shop and a special commemorative medal for completing the event. In addition, male and female overall winners as well as age category champions will be awarded prizes in recognition of their achievements.
Registration is straightforward with transportation from Polkerris beach shop to Charlestown provided for those without personal transport options. Swimmers are counted into the water at Charlestown harbor before setting off on this memorable aquatic adventure.
