Nestled within the rugged terrain of Central Oregon's Cline Buttes, runners are invited to experience one of the most unique and captivating race environments. This scenic location offers panoramic views that stretch from the Three Sisters Wilderness in the west to the vast expanse of the central Oregon desert in the east. The area is renowned for its breathtaking sunrises, stunning sunsets, and a clear night sky dotted with stars. The event features several options tailored to every runner's preference: 3-hour, 6-hour, 12-hour, or 24-hour endurance runs, along with a last-person-standing challenge. Each participant will navigate a 3.1-mile loop that includes an exhilarating climb of 800 feet up Cline Butte and a smooth descent back to the start line. The race course is designed for both seasoned ultrarunners seeking a rigorous test and newcomers looking to dip their toes into overnight racing. The steep elevation changes provide not only physical challenges but also rewarding views at every turn, making each lap feel like an adventure in itself. For those choosing longer durations or the last-person-standing format, there's ample opportunity to push personal limits while enjoying close aid station support. Competitors can look forward to generous prizes for the top male, female, and non-binary finishers ($150 each) as well as a spirited 5k race that starts alongside all other events. The event also includes hot lap challenges at specific hours where participants have an opportunity to earn $20 for crossing the finish line first. The aid station near the start/finish is stocked with a variety of food and beverages, including high-energy snacks like chips, pretzels, fruit, and even full meals such as pizza, burgers, and burritos. Runners are encouraged to indicate any dietary needs during registration so that organizers can accommodate them accordingly. A portion of the race proceeds benefits the Cross-Country team at Mountain View High School in Bend, Oregon. Additionally, there's a special discount for youth participants (18 years old or younger) who receive significant discounts on all events beyond 5k and smaller reductions for shorter distances. Native American/Indigenous runners are also offered free entry to any race distance. Registration begins with bib pick-up at Cline Butte Rock Pit Trailhead, followed by a race briefing before the official start time of 6 PM on Saturday, May 29th. The event concludes early Sunday evening for all distances except last-person-standing participants who continue until the final runner crosses the finish line. This event is more than just a race; it's an opportunity to connect with nature and fellow runners while supporting local youth athletes through generous scholarships and discounts. Join us in Cline Buttes as we celebrate endurance, community spirit, and the beauty of Oregon’s natural landscapes!
