Coppice Fell Race

On Tuesday, June 29, 2027, runners will converge at the Whitakers Arms in Accrington for a challenging 4-mile course that promises to test even the most seasoned competitors. The race begins promptly at 7:30 PM and winds through rugged terrain featuring steep climbs and expansive moorland.
Participants can expect an authentic fell-racing experience as they navigate the undulating landscape of Lancashire’s heartlands, where every step reveals new vistas and challenges. The course ascends to a total elevation gain of approximately 600 feet, making it a true test of endurance and technical skill.
For younger athletes aged eight years or older by April 13, 2027, the event offers a Junior 2k race starting at 7:00 PM. This shorter distance is designed for U10, U12, U14, and U16 age groups to participate in their own challenging but manageable course.
Both events are part of larger series – the senior race being the ninth out of thirteen races in the Accrington Fell & Trail Series, where runners’ best nine results contribute towards overall standings. Similarly, the Junior 2k is the fifth event among six races in its dedicated junior series, with only the top four scores counting toward final rankings.
