The 32nd edition of the "Run for Befana," an annual running event organized by the Roma Road Runners Club, has been canceled due to safety concerns. The decision follows the recent Ordinance issued by Rome's Mayor on January 5, 2026, which mandates precautionary measures in response to escalating weather conditions and a heightened orange alert from Italy’s Civil Protection System for the entire city of Rome.
Patrizio Mancini, president of Roma Road Runners Club, confirmed that despite the event's long-standing tradition and popularity among runners, it will not proceed as planned on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The cancellation aims to ensure the well-being of all participants amidst potential adverse weather conditions.
"We understand the disappointment this news may cause for those who have registered," Mancini stated. "We extend our sincere apologies and hope that everyone understands the necessity of canceling in line with official directives."
