Course Résilience de la Régie de police du Lac des Deux-Montagnes

About the Event

The Resilience Race is an inspiring event held annually by the Lac des Deux-Montagnes Police Regiment and its Fraternity, featuring races of 2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km on a marked course through picturesque landscapes around Deux-Montagnes. This race coincides with Terry Fox Day, bringing together over 650 communities across Canada to celebrate courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.
The event honors Christopher Harding, a dedicated police officer who has been serving at Lac des Deux-Montagnes since 1998. His commitment to his community is exemplified by initiatives such as "Les Forces," an ice hockey team for underprivileged families sponsored by NHL players and local associations. In 2012, Christopher faced the tragic loss of his wife after her battle with cancer, which left him to care for their daughters, Cassandra and Katelyn.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events in 2022, Cassandra was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer similar to that suffered by Terry Fox. She underwent successful surgery during the summer of 2023 but soon after, her sister Katelyn also received an identical diagnosis. Their journey through numerous operations and chemotherapy treatments has been a testament to their resilience.
Despite facing severe challenges in 2024-2025, Cassandra battled lung cancer with aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments while Katelyn's cancer progressed rapidly within her bones. Sadly, after years of fighting, the sisters succumbed to their illnesses, leaving an indelible mark on Christopher, their family, friends, and community.
Today, The Resilience Race is more than just a running event; it serves as a poignant tribute to Katelyn and Cassandra, celebrating their courage and resilience. Each step taken during the race pays homage to these remarkable young women who have become symbols of hope and solidarity for everyone touched by cancer. Participants gather not only to remember them but also to remind Christopher that he is supported in his time of need.
The event unfolds on a sunny morning with the 10 km race kicking off at 10:00 AM, followed by waves of runners setting out for the 5 km course starting from 10:15 and then again at 10:50. The family-friendly atmosphere culminates in a 2.5 km run that begins promptly at 11:30 AM. After the races, participants can enjoy live entertainment, refreshments, raffles, and heartfelt speeches until midday.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early—no later than half an hour before their race start time—to ensure smooth logistics. The event takes place in front of the Lac des Deux-Montagnes Police Station at 615, 20th Avenue, with ample parking available on Gaétan Labrèche Street behind both the station and Olympia Arena.
The day is filled not only with running but also a celebration of life’s enduring strength. Join us to honor Katelyn and Cassandra's legacy as we walk together in their memory, spreading hope throughout our community.
This event offers more than just physical exertion; it provides an opportunity for reflection and unity among those who have faced or continue to face the challenges posed by cancer. Come join us at The Resilience Race to pay tribute to these remarkable young women while fostering a sense of solidarity within our community.
The location is marked on Gaétan Labrèche Street behind both the police station and Olympia Arena, where volunteers will guide participants upon arrival. Restrooms are conveniently located inside the Olympia Arena for your convenience.
In addition to the races themselves, there's an array of activities planned throughout the day including live entertainment, food vendors serving a variety of treats, refreshment stands, raffle draws, and heartfelt speeches that remind us all why this race is more than just steps on pavement—it’s about honoring those who inspire us with their strength.
We look forward to seeing you there as we come together in support of Christopher Harding and his daughters' legacy.
