Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty and rich history of Colorado's San Juan Mountains with the annual Creede Run Series. This diverse race lineup offers something for all levels, from casual runners to seasoned ultramarathoners, set against a backdrop steeped in mining heritage. The 50k route winds through the heart of Creede’s historic mining district before ascending into breathtaking alpine terrain along Miners Creek and Oso Creek Cutoff. Runners will traverse trails that were once bustling with miners' activities, passing by picturesque landscapes marked by wildflowers and towering peaks. The course features a challenging elevation gain but rewards runners with panoramic views at the Continental Divide. With strict cut-off times in place to ensure safety and fairness, participants must reach Oso Creek Cutoff within 5 hours or switch to the 22-mile route. The 22-mile race begins in Creede’s charming downtown area before climbing steeply towards Allen's Crossing near the Continental Divide at an elevation of over 10,500 feet. Here, runners will enjoy a brief respite from the climb as they take in sweeping vistas and fresh mountain air. The course then descends back into town via scenic forest roads. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the 12-mile loop takes you through Creede’s historic mining district on Forest Service roads that wind past old mineshafts and abandoned buildings, offering glimpses of days gone by. This route is perfect for runners looking to enjoy the local scenery at their own pace while still experiencing the unique character of this mountain town. The 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk invites friends and family alike to explore Creede’s downtown streets and venture into its scenic canyon areas. Participants will run or walk through charming neighborhoods, past quaint shops, and along creekside trails before returning back to the heart of town where they can enjoy post-race festivities and camaraderie. Each event offers a unique perspective on this historic mining community, blending challenging terrain with rich cultural heritage for an unforgettable running experience.
