About the Event

The Christmas Cracker Run takes place along the picturesque Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Kirkstall, Leeds, transforming this scenic trail into a winter wonderland for runners on its first day of festivities. The route is designed to be accessible and enjoyable with its generally flat terrain and well-maintained paths that follow the canal's edge.
Participants can expect a festive atmosphere at both the start/finish line and throughout their run, as the event kicks off the Christmas Cracker Weekend within the It’s Grim Up North Running series. The area buzzes with holiday cheer, complete with seasonal music playing in the background, an array of food stalls offering delicious treats, and vibrant decorations including a towering Christmas tree.
The race route is well-supported by marshals stationed along the way to ensure safety and guidance for all runners. Water stations are strategically placed at regular intervals to keep everyone hydrated without the need for disposable cups—participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles or cups to promote sustainability.
Upon crossing the finish line, every runner will be greeted with a bespoke Christmas medal as well as festive treats to celebrate their achievement and add an extra touch of joy to this special event.
As part of the weekend festivities, runners have the option to participate in both days of racing for those looking to extend their holiday running experience.
