About the Event

Experience the inaugural Alpine Gravel Challenge on August 1-2, 2026. This unique race honors the legacy of legendary cyclist Ron Kiefel's Crooked Roubaix adventure from a decade ago by offering an unforgettable journey through Grand County’s rugged terrain.
The event kicks off with a police-led neutral rollout for about four miles to ensure safety and excitement as riders set out on their routes. The 25-mile course weaves through picturesque landscapes, featuring long, winding climbs through vibrant aspen and pine forests followed by exhilarating descents beneath the expansive Colorado sky. Participants will discover hidden trails that have never before been explored in a cycling event.
For those seeking an even greater challenge, the 67-mile route follows a lollipop-shaped path with its timed section concluding near mile 62.5. Both courses offer memorable experiences, but it’s not until you return to town and cross under the finish line arch that your ride truly comes full circle—greeted by free food, cold beer, and live music.
Each participant receives a commemorative t-shirt, refreshments throughout the race, and a post-race meal. Prizes are up for grabs in both age groups and long course categories, with opportunities to compete for the podium (long course only). Age group awards will also be presented.
Remember, while your official timing stops at mile 23 or 62.5, respect all road rules during the untimed section as you make your way back into town. Join us in celebrating this thrilling event and let's cheer each other across the finish line!
