Croome Capability Canter

About the Event

The Croome Capability Canter, voted one of the top 10 off-road races by Runners World readers, invites runners to explore the stunning landscapes of Croome Park on Sunday, November 22, 2026. This scenic 6.5-mile (approximately 10 kilometers) multi-terrain race takes place in a park designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown, offering participants an unforgettable blend of history and natural beauty.
The course winds through the picturesque trails of Croome Park, featuring varied terrain that challenges runners with a steep hill at both the start and finish. The remainder of the route is mostly flat, making it ideal for those looking to push their limits on rugged paths while enjoying uninterrupted views of meticulously landscaped gardens and serene water features.
Participants are encouraged to wear trail shoes as spikes are not suitable for this course. Water stations will be available along the way, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout the race. Distance markers every kilometer help keep track of progress, and the entire route is traffic-free, allowing competitors to focus solely on their performance without distractions.
Awards include a medal for all finishers, prizes for top performers, and a goody bag filled with exclusive merchandise from sponsors and organizers. Facilities at the event venue in Croome Park near High Green (WR8 9DW) offer changing areas, toilets, and unsupervised baggage storage to ensure runners have everything they need before and after the race.
Registration opens on October 1st, 2026, at 9 PM, with a limited capacity of 350 participants. Entries are non-transferable without proper verification through Entry Central's platform; any unauthorized use of another runner’s entry will result in disqualification and potential bans from future events for safety reasons.
The race is wheelchair-inaccessible due to its challenging terrain but offers an exciting experience for runners aged 15 and above, with both affiliated (£16) and unaffiliated (£18) entries available. Profits from the event are donated to the National Trust to support Croome Park’s maintenance efforts while a portion goes towards the Black Pear Joggers’ outreach program aimed at encouraging visually impaired individuals to participate in running activities.
Organized by the dedicated team of Black Pear Joggers, under the leadership of Race Director Claire Shacklock and Race Secretary Paul Evans, this event promises an engaging day for runners looking to test their skills on a historic yet challenging course. Don’t miss out—set reminders now as entries typically sell out quickly!
