On November 14, 2026, the Central Valley Central School District Foundation invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in the Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk at Mohawk Wetlands Park. This annual community event offers a scenic route along the canal trail, providing participants with an enjoyable experience through picturesque surroundings. The race begins promptly at 9am for adults, featuring both running and walking categories. The run follows an out-and-back course heading eastward on the canal trail, while the walk starts westbound for one mile before turning around to head back. Both events are chip-timed by Clark Sports Center, ensuring accurate results. For younger participants, a free kids' race precedes the main event at 8am. Featuring four different distances—1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 3/4 mile, and one full mile—the children’s races cater to various age groups with staggered start times. The exact timing for these events is approximate but begins promptly at 8am. This year's event introduces a few new elements designed to enhance the runner experience. For instance, race shirts are now optional; participants can choose to add them on as an extra cost of $10 if they wish to have one. Additionally, early registrants—specifically the first thirty runners who sign up for either the 5K run or walk—will receive a special giveaway that will be announced shortly. The Turkey Trot also offers unique prizes, including a highly coveted age group prize: a 15-20 pound turkey, which adds an exciting element to the competition. The design of this year's adult race shirt is courtesy of Josh Belisle from The Sneaker Store, while students at Central Valley are responsible for designing shirts for the kids’ races.
