The Franklin Land Trust's D2R2 - Deerfield Dirt Road Randonnée 2026 invites you to explore the rich history and breathtaking landscapes of western Massachusetts. Held on Saturday, August 22, this annual celebration offers a unique blend of cycling routes that cater to all skill levels while preserving the region’s rural charm. Join us rain or shine as we navigate through historic fields, woodlands, and charming villages. With route options ranging from an exhilarating 180K (the original course) down to a family-friendly 12-mile ride, there's something for every cyclist. New in 2026 is the 80K Point-to-Point option, providing a fresh challenge with transportation and meals included. The event kicks off at the Franklin County Agricultural Fairgrounds on Wisdom Way in Greenfield, MA. Enjoy a vibrant pre-event atmosphere featuring food trucks, live music, games, and a brand-new beer garden to celebrate our 21st birthday. The fairgrounds offer an expanded camping area complete with water, electricity, and showers for those looking to extend their stay. For the best experience, register early—rates start at $150 for the longest route and rise incrementally as you approach the event date. Each participant will receive breakfast, lunch, dinner, and rest stops along the way (except on the 80K Point-to-Point). Special rates are available for riders under 18. D2R2 remains true to its roots by using the narrowest, oldest, twistiest, quietest roads possible. The courses offer a mix of challenges suitable for both novices and seasoned cyclists while maintaining an uncompetitive atmosphere that focuses on self-sufficiency. The Franklin Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving farmland and rural character in western Massachusetts, will benefit from your participation. Contributions are tax-deductible and essential for continuing their conservation efforts. Visit our Facebook page at facebook.com/fltrust or Instagram at instagram.com/fltrust for updates leading up to the event. Use #D2R2 across social media to join conversations and share photos with fellow cyclists. Whether you're a local enthusiast or an out-of-town visitor, D2R2 promises an unforgettable experience surrounded by history and nature. Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to land preservation while enjoying one of the most scenic rides in New England.
