Join us for one of the most anticipated events of the Scottish Highland Games calendar. Set against the backdrop of Loch Ness, the Glenurquhart Highland Gathering and Games brings together the rich tradition of Highland culture with world class athletic competition, piping, dancing and more. Local Events Start at 10:30am Afternoon Programme starts at 12:30pm --- WORLD FEMALE HEAVY EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP Making Scottish History - The first ever World Female Heavy Events Championship sanctioned by the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association ( RSHGA) in Scotland, hosted at Glenurquhart Highland Games. This ground breaking event celebrates women’s strength, skill and determination and we hope that showcasing these athletes on a world stage will be an inspiration to future generations. The World Championship will be run under the rules of the RSHGA including their rules on Clean Sport developed working in partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD): Only 10 places available. Automatic qualification for athletes meeting the following standards in at least one event: Entry Deadline is 1st July 2026 for World Championship or earlier if  maximum limit is met --- HEAVY EVENTS Please visit our website for details competition rules, equipment specifications and prize information. Open Heavy Events Run under RSHGA rules: Athletes will compete in five traditional throwing events. Prizes awarded for individual and overall performance. Limited to 8 competitors due to the World championship schedule. Junior Heavy Events Run under RSHGA rules: Athletes will compete in four traditional throwing events. Shot Putt, Scots Hammer, Weight over the Bar, Caber Open to athletes born between 31/12/08 and 23/08/14 N.B. START TIME: 10:30am Maximum 6 competitors --- TRACK & FIELD Run under SAL rules: Always a crowd favourite, our athletics programme offers a wide range of sprint and middle distance events as well as jump events in both female and open categories. We also host a number of Under-14 events for athletes born after 01/01/2013 When  you enter we will enter you for all the events on the schedule. You can then on the day decide which events you wish to compete in when you register at the Secretary’s tent. We host a variety of competitions, including the classic Piobaireachd, open to both senior and junior pipers. Entry rules and further information available on our website --- LOCAL EVENTS These are part of our morning programme starting at 10:30am and are only open to competitors from the local community. We hold competitions in traditional heavy events and track & field in the following age categories: TUG OF WAR This is part of the afternoon programme.
