About the Event

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of night trail running with Somerset's 'Dark Skies' series for winter 2026/27. This unique collection features four captivating events, each set against the backdrop of some of Somerset’s most striking landscapes.
The journey begins on a chilly November evening at Longrun Meadow near Taunton with the Moonlit Meadow Run on the 14th, setting the stage for an unforgettable series. Participants can choose between two distances: a serene 5km route and a more challenging 10km option. Both routes are illuminated by moonlight, casting an ethereal glow over the terrain.
As winter progresses, storm through Brean Down in January with Storm The Fort on the 16th. This event promises to be both exhilarating and atmospheric, as runners navigate rugged trails under starlit skies. Once again, two distances cater to all levels of experience: a shorter yet scenic 5km loop and an adventurous 10km course.
In February, return to Longrun Meadow for another Moonlit Meadow Run on the 6th, offering more opportunities to explore the meadow’s winding paths under moonlight. The series concludes in early spring with Mendip Aurora at Mendip Activity Centre near Churchill on March 20th. Here, runners will experience a blend of woodland trails and open fields, all bathed in the soft glow of night.
Registration opens promptly at 6:15 PM for each event, allowing time to socialize before the start. The longer route kicks off first at 7:25 PM followed closely by the shorter distance run beginning at 7:30 PM.
For those who wish to commemorate their journey through the 'Dark Skies' series, bespoke wooden finisher’s medals can be pre-ordered ahead of each event.
Whether you're a seasoned night runner or new to the scene, this series offers an unparalleled blend of adventure and camaraderie in some of Somerset's most stunning locations. Don't miss out on these magical moonlit moments!
