About the Event

March 6, 2027 marks the 21st anniversary of Delano's iconic 12-Hour Run and 50-Mile Ultra, held at Decatur’s picturesque Delano Park. This year is particularly special as it will be the last edition under longtime Race Director Jim Kline.
The race course features a USATF-certified one-mile loop that winds through partially tree-lined paths within the park. With minimal elevation change—less than 15 feet per lap—the flat terrain offers runners an opportunity to focus on endurance rather than battling hills. The weather can be unpredictable, with temperatures ranging from chilly lows in the mid-30s to warm highs around 60°F; rain and even snow have been known to occur.
Participants are encouraged to set up a base camp either Friday night or early Saturday morning within the park’s expansive grounds. Permanent bathrooms and additional port-a-potties will be placed along key sections of the course for convenience during race day.
Late registrations can still secure spots on packet pickup evening at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with a chance to join in despite not guaranteeing shirts or personalized plaques.
Awards are presented based on total mileage completed within the 12-hour window and fastest times achieved over 50 miles. Runners will receive their own finisher plaque displaying personal mile totals along with team awards for relay divisions. A post-race dinner is scheduled at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 6:30 to 8 PM, where runners can celebrate achievements and mingle.
Each participant receives a personalized race T-shirt and other swag items commemorating the event. For those celebrating their tenth or twentieth year of participation, special recognition such as commemorative jackets will be provided upon request ahead of time.
This enduring tradition promises an unforgettable experience for endurance enthusiasts in Alabama’s heartland.
