Welcome to Die to Run, an extraordinary endurance challenge where fate plays as much of a role as your physical prowess. Set against the backdrop of Hatbox Sports Complex's Airport Hanger 3 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, this unique backyard ultra is anything but predictable. Each hour begins with the roll of a six-sided die, determining whether you’ll face one to six miles for your next out-and-back lap. The first two hours offer some leniency: rolls of five or six are adjusted down to four miles to help runners acclimate to this unpredictable format. As time progresses and fatigue sets in, additional rules kick in—after the sixth hour, a roll of one becomes three; after twelve hours, it’s a four for a rolled two; at eighteen hours, a roll of three turns into five; and finally, after twenty-four hours, any roll of four is bumped up to six miles. These adjustments keep runners on their toes throughout this marathon of strategy. The Hatbox path provides the flat surface needed for these variable distances, ensuring that your turnaround point changes every hour based on what fate has in store for you. All participants must complete each designated distance within a strict one-hour window; failure means elimination from the race. There are no late starts allowed—be where and when you need to be or risk disqualification. On-course aid is available at the main station, but runners cannot receive personal assistance while on the course itself. Crew support is permitted in the base camp area, fostering a community spirit as friends and family cheer from afar without breaking race rules. As night falls and the competition thins out, the true test of endurance begins to reveal its winners. The last runner standing after all others have been eliminated earns the title and glory of being the sole survivor—a moment that’s celebrated with an engraved wooden die, a tangible reminder of your journey through this unique challenge. Die to Run is not just about physical stamina; it's also a mental game where adaptability and resilience are key. Will you be ready when May 16, 2026 rolls around?
