Step into the roots of Canadian ultra-running history at the Diez Vista 50K, returning for its 28th year on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Established in 1997, this legendary race has earned a permanent spot on the bucket lists of trail enthusiasts worldwide. Starting and finishing at the serene Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Regional Park, the course challenges runners with a relentless "up and down" profile through the lush West Coast rainforests of Port Moody, British Columbia. Participants will navigate over 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) of elevation gain and loss, traversing a technical mix of rocks, roots, and mud that defines the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
The race is meticulously organized by Coast Mountain Trail Running (CMTR) and is famously "cupless," reflecting a deep commitment to environmental sustainability. The 50km route circles the iconic Buntzen Lake, including the namesake Diez Vistas trail, offering sweeping views of the Indian Arm and surrounding peaks. With a 7:00 AM athlete assembly and an 8:00 AM sharp start, runners must manage strict cutoffs at three key aid stations to reach the finish line within the allotted time. For the youngest athletes, a non-competitive 1km Kids Race kicks off at 11:30 AM, ensuring the spirit of the trails is shared with the next generation of runners.
As a Trail Sisters Approved event, Diez Vista prioritizes an inclusive and professional experience, offering high-value perks including custom DV hoodies, professional chip timing, and a post-race feast of sushi and BBQ at White Pine Beach. Every entry also contributes to the community, with donations directed toward Coquitlam Search & Rescue and local reforestation programs. Although the 2026 edition is currently Sold Out, the event continues to be a premier destination for those seeking ITRA points and the chance to compete on the same hallowed ground as some of the biggest names in the sport. Secure your place in future years to experience the enduring legacy of the "DV 50K."
