DragonSlayer 2026 Presented by Georgetown Trails Foundation.
About the Event
The Georgetown Trails Foundation, in collaboration with EnduraRace Trails, presents the DragonSlayer! – DS2026. This legendary race has evolved from its humble beginnings as a 78-mile event to an unparalleled challenge that tests even the most seasoned endurance athletes. Starting on Goodwater Trail around Lake Georgetown, this course offers a rugged and unforgiving terrain, known for its gnarly rock gardens and steep ascents. The route now spans 30 miles per lap, allowing participants to experience more of the trail’s unique features with each circuit. In 2019, the event introduced an even grueling option: the DragonSlayer Legendary, a 200-mile, 36-hour category that promises to be one of the most wicked rides ever. The race route covers all 26 miles of the traditional Goodwater loop and extends by four additional miles for each lap. Riders will navigate through challenging sections marked with social elements, such as watching fellow competitors degrade over time in a unique “washing-machine” style format—alternating directions every lap to create an engaging atmosphere. Participants can expect up to 15 hours of riding for the Classic distance, which includes either three or six laps depending on chosen distance. The DragonSlayer Legendary demands even more from its riders with a starting time at 8 PM Friday, December 18th, and a strict cut-off of 8 AM Sunday, December 20th. Rules are stringent to ensure fair play and safety: - No e-bikes allowed in the event. - Riders must adhere strictly to start times: Classic distance riders should begin on Saturday at 8 AM with a mandatory final lap before 6 PM. Legendary riders have an even more demanding schedule, starting Friday night and finishing by Sunday morning. Safety is paramount; all participants are required to carry GPS trackers and charged cell phones, check in for each new lap or kicker, and notify organizers of any withdrawal plans. Riders may pre-stage food and supplies but must clean up after themselves within 12 hours post-event. The atmosphere at the DragonSlayer! is intense yet supportive—a blend of camaraderie and fierce competition. The setting offers breathtaking views of Lake Georgetown and the surrounding trails, making each lap a memorable experience despite its difficulty. Whether you’re seeking to push your limits or simply enjoy the challenge, this event promises an unforgettable adventure through one of America’s toughest single-day mountain bike races.
