Freedom Tri, Hertfordshire’s beloved triathlon club, invites you to the sixteenth edition of the Duck ‘N’ Dash Aquathlon. This unique event combines swimming and running for athletes of all ages and abilities at Letchworth Outdoor Pool. Set in the picturesque setting of Norton Common, this aquathlon features a 400-meter pool swim followed by a scenic 5-kilometer run through the local nature reserve. The race is part of the East Region Adult Race Series, making it an ideal opportunity for competitive athletes seeking regional recognition. To be included in the series results, participants must provide their British Triathlon Federation (BTF) number during registration. The Duck ‘N’ Dash caters to a wide range of competitors with various age categories and distances tailored specifically for juniors aged 8-14 years. For younger racers, there are shorter swim and run segments: Tristar Start at 50 meters swim and 600 meters run; Tristar 1 offers a 100-meter swim and one kilometer run; while Tristar 2 features a 200-meter swim and two-kilometer run. For the slightly older age groups, there’s also the Tristar 3 with a 300-meter swim and three kilometers of running. The event is inclusive, welcoming visually impaired athletes and those with mixed abilities to participate alongside their peers in an encouraging atmosphere. Families can enjoy this together through family tickets or by forming relay teams where friends, colleagues, or siblings take turns swimming and running. Registration opens on Saturday at 4:30 PM for both adults and juniors until 6 PM. On Sunday morning, junior registration starts at 7 AM with transition set-up available from then as well. The first junior race begins promptly at 9 AM, followed by adult races starting around 10:15 AM. The event is limited to a maximum of 350 participants and features chip timing for accurate results. Prizes will be awarded in various categories including Tri Start divisions, Youth groups, Seniors (ages 17-39), Veterans (40-54), Super-Veterans (over 55), and Adult Relay Teams. Sponsors of the Duck ‘N’ Dash include McMullen’s Family Brewers & Pubs, Pauls Bikes, Amber Health, and Everyone Active. Their support ensures a well-rounded experience for all participants.
